P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Linagliptin, Metformin Hydrochloride
Linagliptin, Metformin Hydrochloride falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Rabdosia Rubescens interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Jentadueto XR (linagliptin plus metformin). The linagliptin part is carried in and out of your cells partly by a transporter called P-glycoprotein. In test-tube studies only, Rabdosia rubescens appears to slow that transporter down. If that held true in people, slightly more linagliptin could hang around, which in theory might nudge its effect up a bit. Linagliptin is generally gentle, but watch for low blood sugar signs like shakiness, sweating, or dizziness, especially if you also take other diabetes meds.
Honestly, this is based on lab work, not human studies, so it's more of a heads-up than a real worry. Metformin isn't much affected here. Still, before adding this herb, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your sugars.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Linagliptin, Metformin Hydrochloride page
“Someone taking Jentadueto XR (linagliptin and metformin) for type 2 diabetes is often the same person eyeing fenugreek, bitter melon, or gymnema, and that overlap is why this page deserves real caution. Of its 285 ingredients, 239 can lower blood sugar on their own, so stacking them on a drug already doing that job risks pushing glucos…”
