Amitriptyline, Chlordiazepoxide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Rauwolscine interacts with.

Theoretically, rauwolscine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Limbitrol combines amitriptyline (a tricyclic antidepressant) with chlordiazepoxide (a benzodiazepine). The amitriptyline part is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Rauwolscine is a cousin of yohimbine, and lab studies suggest yohimbine can slow CYP2D6 down. The catch is that this is only a theoretical, test-tube concern, not something proven in real people.

If it did happen, amitriptyline could build up a bit, which might mean more drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, dizziness, or a faster heartbeat. There's a second worry too: rauwolscine is a stimulant that raises heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety, which works against a calming medication like this one. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing these.
