Atomoxetine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Rauwolscine interacts with.

Theoretically, rauwolscine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the gist for Strattera (atomoxetine). Your body relies heavily on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to break atomoxetine down and clear it out. Rauwolscine is chemically a cousin of yohimbine, and lab studies suggest yohimbine can slow that same enzyme. If that slowing happens in real life, atomoxetine could build up higher than expected.

Atomoxetine isn't a prodrug, so more of it sticking around usually means stronger effects and more side effects: a faster heartbeat, raised blood pressure, trouble sleeping, dry mouth, or feeling jittery. Since rauwolscine is itself a stimulant, the two could stack. This is theoretical, based on test-tube data, not proven in people, so don't panic, but please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Atomoxetine Used For?

Brand name: Strattera

Atomoxetine — available as capsules (Atomoxetine, Atomoxetine Hydrochloride, Strattera) and as an oral solution (Atomoxetine Hydrochloride, Atoncy) — is approved for the treatment of ADHD in adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older. It is meant to be part of a total treatment program that may also include psychological, educational, and social supports.

ADHD is diagnosed when persistent symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity cause meaningful problems in daily life — at school, at work, or at home — in more than one setting. Atomoxetine is not approved to treat major depressive disorder.
