ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Aspirin, Codeine Phosphate, Phenobarbital
Aspirin, Codeine Phosphate, Phenobarbital falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combination pill includes aspirin, which thins the blood and reduces clotting. The concern here is the aspirin part. In lab and animal research, higher amounts of reishi (around 3 grams a day) seemed to make platelets a little less sticky, while smaller amounts (about 1.5 grams) did not. Pair that with aspirin and you could, in theory, nudge your bleeding risk up a notch.
To be honest, this is mostly theoretical and based on early studies, so I would not panic. Still, keep an eye out for easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or dark stools. Before adding a concentrated reishi supplement, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aspirin, Codeine Phosphate, Phenobarbital page
“Alcohol is the entry I would flag first with Phenaphen (aspirin, codeine phosphate, phenobarbital): beer or wine layered onto codeine and phenobarbital can deepen sedation and, at worst, slow breathing. This medication deserves real caution with supplements.”
