Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Midostaurin
Midostaurin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Rooibos interacts with.
In vitro research shows that the methanol extract of rooibos leaves and stems strongly inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down midostaurin (Rydapt). Lab studies hint that concentrated rooibos extracts may slow this enzyme down. If that happened in real life, midostaurin could clear more slowly and build up, which might mean stronger effects and more side effects like nausea, low blood counts, fatigue, swelling, or changes in your heart's rhythm (QT prolongation).
Here's the honest part: this concern comes only from test-tube research, not from people, so it's theoretical. Drinking rooibos as a regular tea is unlikely to cause trouble. Since midostaurin is a serious cancer medicine with a tight safety window, please run any rooibos tea or extract by your oncology pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Midostaurin page
“Midostaurin (Rydapt) treats certain leukemias and mast cell disorders, and because it is a targeted cancer drug, keeping its blood level where it belongs matters enough that I would read this list carefully before adding any supplement. Almost every entry works through one liver enzyme, CYP3A4, the pathway that clears midostaurin.”

- Caffeine-free beverage
- Antioxidant support
- Heart health
- Blood sugar support
- Digestive upset
- General wellness
Rooibos is a caffeine-free herbal tea from South Africa that is rich in antioxidants and generally considered safe as a beverage. About Midostaurin
What Is Midostaurin Used For?
Brand name: Rydapt
-
Midostaurin is used with other chemotherapy drugs to treat certain types of acute myeloid leukemia (AML; a type of cancer of the white blood cells). Midostaurin is also used to certain types of mastocytosis (a blood disorder in which there are too many mast cells [a certain kind of white blood cell]). Midostaurin is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop the spread of mast and cancer cells.
