Here's the honest picture with rooibos and your Bancap with Codeine combo. The concern on file is that compounds in rooibos may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In theory, slowing that enzyme could let certain medications linger a bit longer in your system. For this particular pill, that's only a minor side note. Most of the codeine and butalbital are actually handled by other enzymes (like CYP2D6 and others), so CYP1A2 plays a small role here.

On top of that, this signal comes only from lab dish testing, not from people, so it's mostly theoretical. A cup or two of rooibos tea is very unlikely to cause trouble. If you're using concentrated rooibos extracts, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first, especially since this combo already causes drowsiness.

Here's the wrinkle with this combo: the codeine part of your Bancap is actually a prodrug. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to turn codeine into morphine, which is what gives you the pain relief. Lab studies hint that rooibos might slow that same enzyme down. If it does, less of your codeine would get converted, so you could end up with weaker pain relief rather than more side effects.

Honestly, though, this is based only on test-tube research, not real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over a cup or two of rooibos tea. Concentrated rooibos extracts are more of a question mark. If you're relying on this medicine for pain, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before adding rooibos supplements.
