Temazepam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Rooibos interacts with.

Theoretically, taking rooibos with CYP3A4 substrates may increase the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that the methanol extract of rooibos leaves and stems strongly inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity.

Here's the gist with rooibos and temazepam (Restoril). Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear temazepam. Lab studies hint that concentrated rooibos extracts may slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, temazepam could linger a bit longer and feel stronger, meaning more next-morning grogginess, drowsiness, dizziness, or that 'hungover' foggy feeling.

The good news: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube research, not on people, and a normal cup of rooibos tea is very unlikely to cause trouble. The bigger question mark is with strong rooibos supplement extracts. If you're using those, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing.

Temazepam capsules — sold as Restoril and under the generic name Temazepam — are indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia, generally 7 to 10 days. They help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

This medication is intended for short periods only. If sleep trouble doesn't improve within 7 to 10 days, that may signal an underlying medical or psychiatric condition that needs its own evaluation.
