Here's the simple version: your Capozide (captopril plus hydrochlorothiazide) already works to bring your blood pressure down. Saffron, in supplement form, may gently nudge blood pressure lower too. Put them together and those effects could stack up, so your pressure might drop a bit more than expected.

If that happens, you could feel lightheaded, dizzy, or wobbly when you stand up too fast, or just unusually tired. I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is mostly based on animal and small early studies, so it's more of a theoretical heads-up than a sure thing. A sprinkle of saffron in cooking is very unlikely to matter, but concentrated supplements are a different story. Before you start a saffron supplement, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Capozide, Acezide

Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure more effectively than either one alone.

This combination may be started as initial therapy or substituted when a patient has already been adjusted on both ingredients separately. It is approved for patients with normal kidney function, and is used more cautiously in those with impaired kidney function.
