Here's the gist of this one. Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren) can make people feel drowsy or sluggish, especially when you first start it. Sassafras has been linked to mild sedative-type effects too, so putting the two together could add up and leave you feeling more tired, dizzy, or less alert than usual.

I want to be straight with you: this concern is theoretical, based on how each ingredient behaves rather than real-world reports of people running into trouble. The bigger issue is that sassafras contains safrole, which the FDA banned in foods because it can harm the liver and may cause cancer, so I'd steer clear of it regardless. If you're using or considering it, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist first.

Sassafras is an aromatic North American tree whose root bark and oil were once popular in teas and as a flavoring, but it contains safrole, a compound the FDA has banned in foods because it can cause cancer and liver damage. There is no good evidence it safely treats any health condition, and most experts recommend avoiding internal use. If you want the flavor, choose products that are labeled safrole-free.
