Drospirenone, Estetrol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Schizonepeta interacts with.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, inhibits cytochrome P450 (CYP) 1A2. Theoretically, schizonepeta might increase the effects and side effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP1A2 include clozapine (Clozaril), cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril), fluvoxamine (Luvox), haloperidol (Haldol), imipramine (Tofranil), mexiletine (Mexitil), olanzapine (Zyprexa), pentazocine (Talwin), propranolol (Inderal), tacrine (Cognex), theophylline, zileuton (Zyflo), zolmitriptan (Zomig), and others.

Here's the honest picture with Nextstellis (drospirenone plus estetrol) and Schizonepeta. The concern on file is that a compound in this herb may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In theory, blocking that enzyme could let a drug that depends on it build up a bit, leading to stronger effects or more side effects.

The catch is that estetrol and drospirenone aren't mainly cleared by CYP1A2, so this particular pairing is largely theoretical and based only on animal lab work, not real-world human cases. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since hormonal birth control matters and herb effects vary, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Schizonepeta, especially if you notice unusual breast tenderness, nausea, or mood changes.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, induces cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4. Theoretically, schizonepeta might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Nextstellis combines drospirenone and estetrol, the two hormones in this birth control pill, and both are partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The concern here is that Schizonepeta, in lab and animal studies, seems to speed up that enzyme. If it does the same in people, your body could clear these hormones a little faster, which in theory might lower the pill's hormone levels and weaken how well it prevents pregnancy. You might also notice more breakthrough spotting or bleeding between periods.

I want to be honest though: this is based only on animal and test-tube research, so it's a theoretical worry, not a proven one. Still, since reliable contraception matters, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.
