Vibegron falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Schizonepeta interacts with.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, induces cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4. Theoretically, schizonepeta might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for your bladder medicine, Vibegron (Gemtesa). Some of it is processed by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Animal lab studies suggest a compound in Schizonepeta may speed that enzyme up. If that happened in people, your body could clear Vibegron a bit faster, which in theory might make it work less well. You could notice your overactive bladder symptoms creeping back, like more urgency, more frequent trips to the bathroom, or accidents.

I want to be honest though: this is only a theoretical concern based on animal data, not human studies, so we really don't know if it matters in real life. Vibegron is also not a prodrug, so this isn't about it becoming dangerously strong. Please don't change anything on your own. Just let your pharmacist or doctor know you're considering Schizonepeta so they can keep an eye on how well your medicine is working.

What Is Vibegron Used For?

Brand name: Gemtesa

Gemtesa (vibegron) is used to treat overactive bladder (OAB) in adults. Specifically, it targets the three main OAB symptoms: sudden strong urges to urinate, leaking urine when you feel that urge (urge urinary incontinence), and needing to urinate too often.

Gemtesa is also approved for adult men who have OAB symptoms and are already taking medication for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — an enlarged prostate.
