These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Sesame interacts with whole categories of medication. Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Sesame in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan
Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Sesame interacts with.
Clinical research shows that replacing other cooking oil with sesame oil can lower systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in patients with or without hypertension. There is also some evidence that sesame oil has additive effects in patients also taking atenolol, nifedipine, and/or hydrochlorothiazide. In patients using nifedipine, using a blend of sesame oil and rice bran oil for cooking reduces both SBP and DBP more than nifedipine alone.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: Byvalson is a combination blood pressure medicine. Nebivolol is a beta-blocker that relaxes blood vessels, and valsartan blocks a hormone that tightens them. Both work to bring your pressure down. Sesame, especially sesame oil used regularly in cooking, has been shown in some studies to modestly lower blood pressure on its own. So when you stack the two, the effects can add up.
If your pressure drops too low, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, tired, or even faint when you stand up quickly. This is based mostly on the way these things work together rather than strong proof, and small amounts of sesame in food are unlikely to cause trouble. If you use a lot of sesame oil daily, just mention it to your doctor or pharmacist so they can keep an eye on your readings.

CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro, sesame inhibits CYP2C9. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version on combining sesame with Byvalson (nebivolol plus valsartan). In test-tube studies, sesame can slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9, which helps clear certain medicines. The valsartan part of your pill is handled partly by this enzyme, so in theory sesame could let a bit more of it linger in your system. If that happened, you might notice slightly stronger blood-pressure-lowering effects, like dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling tired.
The important thing: this has only been seen in lab dishes, never in real people, and normal food amounts of sesame are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated sesame supplements are less studied, so if you take those, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor rather than changing anything yourself.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan page
“Nebivolol with valsartan (Byvalson) packs two blood pressure medicines into one pill, and I would treat this list with genuine care, especially its handful of serious entries. Most of the interactions tug on blood pressure itself, some deepening the drop until dizziness or fainting becomes a risk, others, tyramine among them, pushing p…”

About Sesame
What is Sesame?
- Heart and cholesterol health
- Blood pressure support
- Source of healthy fats and minerals
- Skin and hair care (topical oil)
- Antioxidant support
- Cooking and nutrition
Sesame is a nutritious seed and oil widely used in cooking and traditional medicine, and it provides healthy fats, fiber, and antioxidant compounds called lignans. Some early research suggests sesame may modestly help with cholesterol and blood pressure, but the evidence is limited. Sesame is also a common, sometimes serious, food allergen, so people with seed allergies should be careful.
