Here's the gist for meperidine (a narcotic pain medicine) and shepherd's purse. Meperidine already calms the brain and nervous system, which is how it eases pain, but that same action can leave you feeling drowsy, foggy, or slow to breathe. Some reports suggest shepherd's purse may have its own mild sedating effect, so taking the two together could add up to extra sleepiness or dizziness.

I want to be honest with you though: this concern is theoretical, based on how the herb might behave rather than solid human studies. It's not about your liver breaking the drug down faster or slower. Still, since meperidine is a strong opioid, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you notice unusual grogginess.
