Here's the thing to keep in mind with Tasimelteon (Hetlioz) and shepherd's purse. Tasimelteon helps reset your sleep clock and naturally makes you feel drowsy. Shepherd's purse is sometimes reported to have a mild calming or sedative quality of its own. Put the two together and the worry is simply that their relaxing effects could stack up, leaving you groggier, more drowsy, or a bit dizzy than you'd expect.

I want to be honest about how soft this concern is. It's theoretical, based on how these substances behave rather than real studies in people, so for most folks it may never amount to anything noticeable. Still, if you're using both, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor, and be careful with driving until you know how the combination affects you.

What Is Tasimelteon Used For?

Brand names: Hetlioz, Hetlioz Lq

Tasimelteon capsules are approved to treat Non-24-Hour Sleep-Wake Disorder (Non-24) in adults. Non-24 is a condition where the body's internal clock does not align with the normal 24-hour day, causing sleep and wake times to shift continuously.

Hetlioz capsules are also approved to treat nighttime sleep disturbances in Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) in patients 16 years of age and older. Hetlioz LQ oral suspension is approved specifically for nighttime sleep disturbances in SMS in pediatric patients ages 3 to 15 years.
