Here's the gist with shepherd's purse and hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is a strong opioid pain reliever, and one of its main effects is that it can make you drowsy, slow your breathing, and lower your alertness. Some traditional herbs, including shepherd's purse, are thought to have mild calming or sedating properties of their own. The concern on file is simply that putting two things with sedative effects together could add up, leaving you more sleepy or foggy than expected.

I want to be honest: this is a theoretical caution based on how these substances may behave, not on strong human studies. Still, since hydrocodone already carries real risks, it's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
