Here's the gist for this pairing. Aristada (aripiprazole lauroxil) is a long-acting injectable antipsychotic, and it can already cause some drowsiness or calmness in certain people. Shepherd's purse has been linked, on paper at least, to mild sedative-type effects. The worry is that stacking the two could add up and leave you feeling more sleepy, foggy, dizzy, or sluggish than usual.

I want to be honest about how soft this concern is. It is theoretical, based on how these substances might behave, not on real patient studies. For most folks it likely won't be a big deal, but since your injection stays in your system for weeks, I'd still mention shepherd's purse to your pharmacist or prescriber before adding it, especially if you notice extra grogginess.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
