Elotuzumab falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Spearmint interacts with.

Theoretically, high doses of spearmint might increase the risk of liver damage when taken with hepatotoxic drugs.
Animal research suggests that drinking spearmint tea for 30 days can increase markers of liver damage, including aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and cause liver degeneration and necrosis, in a dose-dependent manner. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with spearmint and Empliciti (elotuzumab). Elotuzumab is an infused antibody for multiple myeloma, and it can put some stress on the liver, especially since it's given alongside dexamethasone and either lenalidomide or pomalidomide. The concern on file is that very high, concentrated doses of spearmint might add a little extra burden to the liver when combined with medicines that can already affect it.

I want to be honest about the strength of this one: it's theoretical. The only signal comes from animal studies where high spearmint doses raised liver enzymes (AST and ALT). Nothing like this has been shown in people, and ordinary culinary amounts (a cup of spearmint tea or mint in food) are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated spearmint capsules are a different story, so check with your oncology team or pharmacist before adding them.

About Elotuzumab Injection

What Is Elotuzumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Empliciti

Empliciti is used to treat multiple myeloma (a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow) in adults who have already tried other treatments. It is always given as part of a combination regimen — never alone.

Empliciti combined with lenalidomide and dexamethasone is used in adults who have received one to three prior therapies. Empliciti combined with pomalidomide and dexamethasone is used in adults who have received at least two prior therapies, including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor.
