Spearmint + Methyltestosterone
Methyltestosterone brand names: Metandren, Android 10, Oreton, Testred, Methitest, and others.
Spearmint has a moderate interaction with Methyltestosterone. Theoretically, high doses of spearmint might increase the risk of liver damage when taken with hepatotoxic drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Methyltestosterone
Methyltestosterone falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Spearmint interacts with.
Animal research suggests that drinking spearmint tea for 30 days can increase markers of liver damage, including aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and cause liver degeneration and necrosis, in a dose-dependent manner. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about methyltestosterone: it's one of the oral anabolic steroids that can be hard on the liver all by itself. It's known to sometimes raise liver enzymes and, rarely, cause more serious liver problems with long-term use. So liver health really matters with this medication.
The worry with spearmint is that, in animal studies, drinking a lot of spearmint tea for a month nudged up liver markers (AST and ALT). This hasn't been seen in people, so it's a theoretical concern, not a proven one. A cup of spearmint tea now and then is very unlikely to be a problem. The caution is more about concentrated, high-dose spearmint supplements stacked on top of a drug that already stresses the liver. Please run any spearmint supplement past your pharmacist or doctor first.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Methyltestosterone page
“Liver strain dominates this list, and it warrants real wariness before pairing supplements with methyltestosterone (Android, Testred, Methitest). This oral hormone is already hard on the liver by itself, and 38 of the 73 supplement ingredients on file carry their own liver toxicity, stacking injury on the same organ.”

About Spearmint
What is Spearmint?
- Digestive upset and indigestion
- Nausea
- Hormonal acne and unwanted hair (PCOS-related)
- Memory and focus
- Mild stress and anxiety

Spearmint is a common culinary mint that is generally safe in food and tea amounts.
