Squill + Abemaciclib
Abemaciclib brand name: Verzenio.
We found no known interaction between Squill and Abemaciclib in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Squill and Abemaciclib
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Abemaciclib and Squill in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding ratings are from Natural Medicines (Therapeutic Research Center) — the full detail is in the Special populations card below. Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Why No Interaction Is Listed for Abemaciclib
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Abemaciclib is filed under 2 classifications — cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) substrates, oral drugs. Squill has documented interactions with 7 drug classes — the most serious being digoxin (lanoxin) (major), corticosteroids (moderate) and diuretic drugs (moderate) — and none of Abemaciclib’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Squill Does Interact With Other Medications

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Abemaciclib page
“A daily pill for a common form of advanced breast cancer, abemaciclib (Verzenio) only helps when its blood level stays steady, so this list of 138 supplements deserves genuine care. Nearly all of them act on CYP3A4, the liver enzyme that clears abemaciclib, meaning a supplement can push its level up and intensify side effects, or drag…”

- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Squill
What is Squill?
- Cough and chest congestion
- Fluid retention (diuretic)
- Heart conditions (traditional 'cardiac tonic')
- Hair loss (topical use)
- Rodenticide (red squill, non-medicinal)
Squill is a bulb plant that contains potent cardiac glycosides, which can affect the heart much like the drug digoxin. While it has a long history of use as a cough remedy and heart tonic, it can be dangerously toxic and there is little solid evidence for its modern use, so we do not recommend taking it without close medical supervision.
Drimia maritima · Asparagaceae · Dried inner bulb scales · Dried bulb, tinctures, liquid extracts, syrups, and some traditional cough preparations
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Squill is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Squill record says about it on its own.
Squill: dosing
There is no well-established, standardized safe dose of squill for general use. Because the active compounds are so potent and the toxic dose is close to any possibly effective dose, self-dosing is not recommended. If a product contains squill, follow the label exactly and do not take more than directed.

About Abemaciclib
What Is Abemaciclib Used For?
Brand name: Verzenio
Verzenio (abemaciclib) is used to treat adults with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. For early breast cancer at high risk of returning, Verzenio is taken alongside endocrine therapy (tamoxifen or an aromatase inhibitor) after surgery to help prevent recurrence.
For advanced or metastatic breast cancer, Verzenio can be used in three ways: combined with an aromatase inhibitor as a first hormonal treatment; combined with fulvestrant after the cancer has progressed on prior hormone therapy; or on its own after both hormone therapy and prior chemotherapy have stopped working.
Most-Reported Side Effects for Abemaciclib
From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (19,870 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.
