Strontium + Moxifloxacin
Moxifloxacin brand name: Avelox.
Strontium has a moderate interaction with Moxifloxacin. Theoretically, strontium might decrease the absorption of quinolone antibiotics.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS
Why this applies to Moxifloxacin
Moxifloxacin falls under QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Strontium interacts with.
Strontium is a divalent cation with similar properties to calcium. It is likely to form complexes with quinolones in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, preventing absorption of the antibiotic. Recommend taking strontium supplements at least 2 hours before or after quinolones to avoid an interaction.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: strontium is a mineral that behaves a lot like calcium, and minerals like this can grab onto an antibiotic like moxifloxacin right in your stomach and gut. When they bind together, your body can't absorb the antibiotic as well. That means less moxifloxacin gets into your bloodstream, and a weaker antibiotic may not fully clear the infection it was prescribed for.
This concern is based on how these molecules behave chemically rather than on hard human studies, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, it's easy to sidestep. A good rule is to separate them by at least 2 hours, taking your moxifloxacin first and your strontium later (or the other way around). Please run the exact timing by your pharmacist or doctor so the antibiotic does its full job.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Moxifloxacin page
“The supplement list for moxifloxacin (Avelox), a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, deserves genuine care, and the everyday items are the surprising part. Ordinary juices, apple, grapefruit, and sweet orange among them, block a transporter the drug needs for absorption and can cut how much reaches your blood, which for an antibiotic means the…”

About Strontium
What is Strontium?
- Bone health and osteoporosis
- Reducing fracture risk
- Tooth sensitivity (in some toothpastes)
- Supporting bone density
Strontium is a mineral that has been studied mainly for bone health and osteoporosis. The prescription form (strontium ranelate) showed benefit for fracture risk but carries serious heart-related safety concerns, while the over-the-counter supplement form (strontium citrate) has much less evidence. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using it, especially if you have heart disease or are at risk for blood clots.
About Moxifloxacin
What Is Moxifloxacin Used For?
Brand name: Avelox
Moxifloxacin tablets and intravenous (IV) injection are approved for adults 18 and older to treat bacterial infections including community-acquired pneumonia, uncomplicated and complicated skin infections, complicated abdominal infections, plague, acute bacterial sinusitis, and acute bacterial flare-ups of chronic bronchitis. Note: moxifloxacin should only be used for sinusitis and chronic bronchitis flare-ups when no other antibiotic option is available, due to the risk of serious side effects.
Moxifloxacin ophthalmic solution (eye drops) — including the brand Vigamox — is a separate, topical formulation used only in the eye to treat bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye) caused by susceptible bacteria. The eye drop form is not used for body-wide infections.
