Minocycline Hydrochloride falls under TETRACYCLINE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Strontium interacts with.

Theoretically, strontium might decrease the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics.
Strontium is a divalent cation with similar properties to calcium. It is likely to form complexes with tetracyclines in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, preventing absorption of the antibiotic. Recommend taking strontium supplements at least 2 hours before or after tetracyclines to avoid an interaction.

Here's the gist: strontium acts a lot like calcium in your gut, and minerals like these can grab onto minocycline and form a clump that your body can't absorb well. The worry isn't that minocycline becomes dangerous, it's the opposite. You may end up absorbing less of the antibiotic, which could mean it doesn't fully knock out your infection or clear your acne.

The good news is this is easy to manage by spacing them out. A common suggestion is to take your strontium at least 2 hours before or after your minocycline dose. This concern is based on pharmacology rather than hard human studies, so it's a sensible precaution, not an emergency. Run your timing past your pharmacist to be safe.

The prescription form (strontium ranelate) showed benefit for fracture risk but carries serious heart-related safety concerns, while the over-the-counter supplement form (strontium citrate) has much less evidence. About Minocycline

What Is Minocycline Used For?

Brand names: Ximino, Minolira

Oral and intravenous minocycline products treat many serious bacterial infections, including Rocky Mountain spotted fever, respiratory tract infections, sexually transmitted infections such as lymphogranuloma venereum and nongonococcal urethritis, plague, cholera, brucellosis, tularemia, and others caused by susceptible organisms. MINOCIN Intravenous is used when oral therapy is not adequate or tolerated.

Extended-release oral minocycline tablets are indicated specifically for inflammatory lesions of moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 12 years and older — not for treating infections. AMZEEQ (topical foam) treats inflammatory lesions of moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 9 years and older. ZILXI (topical foam) and EMROSI (oral capsule) are indicated for inflammatory lesions of rosacea in adults. ARESTIN (oral powder placed by a dental professional) is used alongside scaling and root planing to reduce pocket depth in adult periodontitis.
