Drospirenone, Estetrol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Sulforaphane interacts with.

Theoretically, sulforaphane might alter the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP1A2 enzyme activity. However, its precursor glucoraphanin also appears to increase the expression of the CYP1A2 enzyme, which could lead to increased metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates. These effects have not been reported in humans.

Here's the honest picture with your birth control pill (Nextstellis, which combines drospirenone and estetrol) and sulforaphane: the concern is mostly theoretical. In lab dishes and animal studies, sulforaphane can block a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, while its plant precursor may actually speed it up. These opposite effects basically muddy the water, and neither has been shown to happen in real people.

So practically, eating broccoli or other cruciferous veggies is not something to worry about with your pill. Concentrated sulforaphane supplements are less studied, so if you want to take one, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first. Don't change how you take your birth control on your own.

Nextstellis combines drospirenone and estetrol, two hormones that your body partly clears using the liver enzyme CYP3A4. In lab dishes and animal studies, sulforaphane appears to slow this enzyme down. If that happened in people, it could let these hormones build up a little higher than usual, which in theory might mean more side effects like breast tenderness, nausea, headaches, bloating, or mood changes.

Here's the honest part: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube and animal research, and it has never actually been reported in humans. Eating broccoli and other cruciferous veggies is not a worry at all. If you're thinking about a concentrated sulforaphane supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on things.
