Ethinyl Estradiol, Drospirenone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Sulforaphane interacts with.

Theoretically, sulforaphane might alter the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP1A2 enzyme activity. However, its precursor glucoraphanin also appears to increase the expression of the CYP1A2 enzyme, which could lead to increased metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates. These effects have not been reported in humans.

Here's the honest picture with Yaz (ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone) and sulforaphane. Your birth control pill is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In lab dishes and animal studies, sulforaphane can slow that enzyme down, while its plant precursor can speed it up. So the science actually points in two opposite directions, and none of this has been shown to happen in real people.

What does that mean for you? If anything shifted, you might see slightly different estrogen levels (think mild nausea, breast tenderness, or spotting), but this is theoretical only. Eating broccoli and other cruciferous veggies is no concern at all. If you're considering a concentrated sulforaphane supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Your birth control pill (Yaz) contains ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone, and your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break these hormones down. Lab and animal studies suggest sulforaphane may slow that enzyme down a bit. In theory, that could let hormone levels drift a little higher, which might mean more of the usual estrogen-type effects like nausea, breast tenderness, bloating, or spotting.

Here's the reassuring part: this has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never reported in people. The amount of sulforaphane you get from eating broccoli or other cruciferous veggies is very unlikely to matter. If you're thinking about a concentrated supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
