Aripiprazole Lauroxil falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Sweet Annie interacts with.

Sweet Annie may alter plasma levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that the Sweet Annie constituent artemisinin induces CYP3A4, possibly increasing CYP3A4 activity by 1.9-fold. However, Sweet Annie extract seems to inhibit the activity of CYP3A4 in vitro, suggesting that other constituents of Sweet Annie play a role in its effects on the overall activity of this enzyme. More information is needed to determine whether taking Sweet Annie extract affects the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here's the situation with Aristada (aripiprazole lauroxil), a long-acting injection your provider gives every few weeks. After it's injected, your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 (along with CYP2D6) to help process the active aripiprazole. Sweet Annie may nudge this enzyme one way or the other, so in theory it could change how much aripiprazole stays active in your system.

Honestly, the evidence here is thin. Lab studies pull in both directions, with one compound speeding the enzyme up and the whole extract seeming to slow it down. We just don't know the real-world effect yet. If the drug were cleared faster, your symptoms could creep back; if it built up, you might notice more drowsiness, restlessness, or shakiness. Since this shot lasts weeks and can't easily be adjusted, please check with your pharmacist or prescriber before adding Sweet Annie.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
