Dalteparin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Sweet Clover interacts with.

Theoretically, fresh sweet clover might increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Fresh sweet clover contains coumarinic acids, which are converted to free coumarins during drying. Dicoumarol, which has anticoagulant activity, also has been found in some sweet clover preparations and can be formed if fresh sweet clover is allowed to spoil.

Here's the thing with sweet clover and your Dalteparin (Fragmin): this herb contains coumarin compounds, and if the plant ever spoils or ferments, it can form dicoumarol, which thins the blood much like a medication does. Since Dalteparin is already a powerful injectable blood thinner, stacking a second blood-thinning effect on top could nudge your bleeding risk higher.

What might that look like? Easy bruising, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, blood in urine or stool, or cuts that take longer to stop. To be fair, this concern is theoretical, based on how sweet clover behaves rather than solid human studies, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, with a drug like Dalteparin I'd play it safe. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

About Dalteparin Injection

What Is Dalteparin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Fragmin

Fragmin (dalteparin) injection is used to prevent blood clots (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT) in people having hip replacement or abdominal surgery, and in hospitalized patients who are largely immobile due to acute illness. It is also used to reduce ischemic complications — meaning clot-related events — in people with unstable angina or a type of heart attack called non-Q-wave MI, when given alongside aspirin.

Fragmin is approved for the extended treatment of symptomatic venous thromboembolism (VTE — blood clots in the veins or lungs) in adults with cancer, to reduce the chance of clots coming back, for up to six months. It is also approved to treat symptomatic VTE in pediatric patients from birth (at least 35 weeks gestational age) onward. Fragmin is not intended for the acute (immediate emergency) treatment of VTE.
