In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with Beyaz (drospirenone, ethinyl estradiol, and levomefolate). Thunder God Vine contains a compound called triptolide that, in test tube studies only, appears to block a liver enzyme known as CYP1A2. Ethinyl estradiol, the estrogen in your pill, is partly handled by that enzyme. So in theory, the herb could slow down how your body clears the estrogen, letting levels drift a bit higher.
If that happened, you might notice more estrogen-type effects like nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, or bloating. I want to be honest though: this is theoretical and has never actually been reported in people, so it may not matter at all in real life. Thunder God Vine can also be quite toxic on its own, so please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining the two.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INHIBITORS

Inhibitors of CYP3A4 can increase the concentration of triptolide, a thunder god vine constituent, and its derivative (5R)-5-hydroxytriptolide. In vitro research shows that triptolide and (5R)-5-hydroxytriptolide are about 94% and 64% metabolized by CYP3A4, respectively.

Here's how this pairing works. Beyaz (a birth control pill containing drospirenone, ethinyl estradiol, and a folate) can gently block the liver enzyme CYP3A4. Thunder God Vine's active compounds, like triptolide, are largely cleared by that same enzyme. So in theory, taking them together could slow how fast the herb is broken down, letting it build up to higher levels.
Why that matters: Thunder God Vine can be quite toxic if levels run high, with risks like stomach upset, liver strain, and other serious effects. The good news is this concern is theoretical, based on lab studies rather than real patient reports. Still, because this herb needs careful supervision anyway, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining the two.

Beyaz contains the hormones drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol, both of which your body clears partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest that triptolide, one of the active compounds in Thunder God Vine, may slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let these hormones build up a bit, which might mean more of the usual side effects like nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, or bloating. The drospirenone piece is worth a note too, since higher levels could nudge potassium upward.
Here's the honest part: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube research, and it has not been reported in real people. Thunder God Vine also carries its own safety risks, so please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
