Trabectedin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Thunder God Vine interacts with.

Theoretically, thunder god vine might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the basic idea with these two. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down and clear trabectedin (Yondelis). Thunder God Vine contains a compound called triptolide that, at least in lab dish studies, can slow that same enzyme down. If it slows the cleanup crew, trabectedin could theoretically build up higher than intended in your system.

Why that matters: trabectedin is a strong chemotherapy drug already known for serious effects like low blood counts, liver stress, nausea, and fatigue. Higher levels could make those worse. That said, this is only a theoretical, lab-based concern and hasn't actually been seen in people. Still, given how powerful this chemo is, please don't combine them without first checking with your oncology team.

Yondelis (trabectedin injection) is used to treat adults with liposarcoma or leiomyosarcoma — two types of soft tissue sarcoma (cancer of connective tissue) — when the cancer cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable) or has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic). It is indicated for patients who have already received a prior treatment regimen containing an anthracycline (a type of chemotherapy).
