Additionally, taking thyroid medications with certain drugs, like antacids or calcium supplements, can hinder the effectiveness of the thyroid medication, necessitating adjustments in dosage or timing. Prescription thyroid medications, such as Synthroid, are recommended to be taken on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food and other medications, for optimal absorption.

Here's the gist of this one: the concern is that taking your Vyvanse at the same time as a thyroid extract supplement could slightly reduce how well the thyroid hormones get absorbed. This is an absorption timing issue, not a worry that Vyvanse itself becomes stronger or weaker. Lisdexamfetamine is a prodrug, meaning your body converts it into active dextroamphetamine in the bloodstream, and that conversion is not affected by the thyroid product.

The flip side is worth a mention: both products can rev up your system, so combining stimulant effects might mean more of a racing heart, jitteriness, or trouble sleeping. A simple fix is spacing them out, taking thyroid hormone on an empty stomach and your other items later. Since OTC thyroid extracts are unpredictable, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before mixing these.

It is not approved or recommended for weight loss, and its safety and effectiveness for treating obesity have not been established. It is not recommended in children under 6 years old.
