Effient falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Tree Of Heaven interacts with.

Theoretically, tree of heaven extract might reduce platelet aggregation and increase the risk of bleeding if used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. In vitro evidence shows that tree of heaven crude extract attenuates epinephrine and adenosine diphosphate-induced platelet aggregation. This interaction has not been seen in humans. Until more is known, use with caution in patients taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.

Here's the thing to know with Effient (prasugrel): it's already a strong platelet blocker that you take to keep clots from forming after a heart procedure. The concern with tree of heaven is that, in lab dish studies, its extract also seemed to make platelets less sticky. So in theory, stacking it on top of Effient could push your bleeding risk a little higher.

That might show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that are slow to stop. I want to be honest though, this is theoretical and has only been seen in test tubes, never proven in people. Still, since Effient is a serious blood thinner, I'd loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding tree of heaven rather than guessing.

What Is Prasugrel Used For?

Brand name: Prasugrel

Prasugrel tablets (brand names Effient and Prasugrel) are used to lower the risk of dangerous blood clots — including clots that can block a stent — in people with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), which includes unstable angina (chest pain at rest) and heart attacks (both NSTEMI and STEMI types). It is used specifically in patients who are being treated with a procedure called percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), in which a catheter is used to open a blocked coronary artery, often with a stent.

Effient has been shown to reduce the combined rate of cardiovascular death, nonfatal heart attack, or nonfatal stroke compared to clopidogrel — with the benefit driven mainly by fewer heart attacks.
