Here's the thing to know about buspirone: your body relies heavily on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear it out. The berberine in tree turmeric appears to slow that enzyme down. So if you pair them, less buspirone gets broken down and more can pile up in your system.

What might that feel like? Buspirone is usually pretty gentle, but higher levels can bring on more dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, nausea, or headache. Buspirone is famously sensitive to CYP3A4 changes (grapefruit does the same thing), so this is worth taking seriously. Concentrated berberine supplements matter more than a sprinkle in food. Please don't change anything on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can guide you.

What Is Buspirone Used For?

Buspirone tablets and capsules are used to manage anxiety disorders or to relieve anxiety symptoms in the short term. Its effectiveness has been shown in clinical trials focused on Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) — a condition marked by persistent, hard-to-control worry along with physical symptoms like muscle tension, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and sleep problems.

Buspirone has also been shown to relieve anxiety in people who have mild depressive symptoms alongside their anxiety. Everyday stress and tension, on their own, generally do not require treatment with a medicine like buspirone.
