Here's the gist with this pairing. Galantamine ER (Razadyne ER) is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. The berberine in tree turmeric can slow that enzyme down, so in theory your body might break galantamine down a little more slowly and let more of it build up.

If galantamine levels creep up, you may notice more of its usual side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dizziness, or a slower heart rate. Keep in mind this is mostly theoretical, based on lab work and limited human data, so it may not turn out to be a big deal in practice. Still, since galantamine already tends to upset the stomach, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them. Don't change anything on your own.

Here's the gist for galantamine ER (Razadyne ER). Your body partly relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear this medicine. Berberine, the main active ingredient in tree turmeric, can moderately slow that enzyme down. When that happens, galantamine can hang around longer and build up a bit, which may nudge its effects and side effects upward.

With this drug, that usually shows up as more of its cholinergic effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, a slower heart rate, or loss of appetite. The interaction is rated probable but the size of the bump is modest, and food amounts of turmeric in cooking are unlikely to matter. Concentrated berberine supplements are the concern. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
