Namzaric combines two Alzheimer's medicines: donepezil and memantine. The piece that matters here is donepezil, which your body partly clears using a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Berberine, the active compound in tree turmeric, may slow that enzyme down. If donepezil isn't broken down as quickly, more of it can hang around in your system, which could nudge up its usual side effects like nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, a slower heartbeat, trouble sleeping, or muscle cramps.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's mostly theoretical and based on lab and early human data, not strong proof. Neither drug is a prodrug, so this is about levels building up, not losing benefit. Before adding tree turmeric, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Namzaric combines two medicines for Alzheimer's symptoms: donepezil and memantine. The berberine in tree turmeric can mildly slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which is one of the pathways your body uses to clear donepezil. When that pathway slows, donepezil can build up a bit more than usual, which may nudge its effects (and side effects) higher.

For donepezil, that could mean more nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, muscle cramps, or a slower heartbeat. Memantine works differently and isn't really affected here. This concern is mostly theoretical and based on early research, so don't panic, but it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a concentrated berberine supplement.
