Ponesimod falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, tree turmeric might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs that are substrates of CYP3A4.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, moderately inhibits CYP3A4.

Here's the gist with these two together. The berberine in tree turmeric can mildly block a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which is one of the pathways your body uses to clear Ponvory (ponesimod). When that pathway slows down, a bit more ponesimod can hang around in your system. Ponesimod is an active drug (not a prodrug), so higher levels generally mean a stronger effect, and possibly more side effects like a slower heart rate, headache, dizziness, shortness of breath, or higher liver enzymes.

That said, this is mostly a theoretical and modest concern based on lab and early human data, not dramatic. Sprinkles in food aren't the worry; concentrated berberine supplements are. Before adding tree turmeric, check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can watch your heart rate and how you're feeling.

Ponvory (ponesimod) is approved for adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). This includes clinically isolated syndrome (a first MS episode), relapsing-remitting MS, and active secondary progressive MS.

It is not approved for children, and it is only available as an oral tablet under the brand name Ponvory.
