Insulin (Human) falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Tronadora interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of tronadora and antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Clinical research suggests that a combination of tronadora and Guazuma ulmifolia reduce levels of fasting glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes, including those already taking antidiabetes agents. The effect of tronadora alone is unknown. Animal research is conflicting.

Here's the short version: insulin already lowers your blood sugar, and Tronadora (Tecoma stans) may nudge it down a little further. Stack the two together and there's a chance your sugar drops too low. With hypoglycemia, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, hungry, confused, or have a pounding heart, and in severe cases it can be dangerous. Insulin isn't a prodrug, so nothing needs to be 'activated' here; the concern is simply two blood-sugar-lowering effects adding up.

I want to be honest about the evidence. It's theoretical and based on weak studies, often with Tronadora combined with another herb, so the effect of Tronadora by itself isn't well known. Please don't change your insulin on your own. If you'd like to try this tea, check with your doctor or pharmacist first and monitor your sugars closely.

Brand names: Novolin N, Novolin 70/30, Novolin R, Novolin L, Afrezza

Novolin (human insulin injection) is used to improve glycemic control — meaning blood sugar management — in adults and children with diabetes mellitus.

Novolin 70/30 is a fixed-ratio mixture of intermediate-acting and short-acting human insulin. Because the ratio is fixed, it cannot be adjusted separately for background (basal) or mealtime (prandial) needs.
