Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

New Sun's Advanced CBD Oil is a single-ingredient product: phytocannabinoid hemp oil, a concentrated extract from hemp plant material. There are no inactive ingredients or fillers in this formulation.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Hemp product and its label doesn't state a use — see Hemp's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that hemp oil is effective for any condition. Our data rates its use for constipation, eczema (atopic dermatitis), and high cholesterol (familial hypercholesterolemia) as having insufficient reliable evidence to rate—meaning the studies either don't exist or aren't strong enough to say whether it works.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hemp seed foods are generally well tolerated in normal food amounts, but concentrated extracts and supplements like this one are much less studied, so caution is advised. Serious side effects are rare; they include scattered case reports of anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction), allergic symptoms like hives and swelling, and in one case, elevated liver enzymes and hepatitis in a young child given very high doses for seizures.

If you have a known seed allergy or are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting—we don't have enough safety data for those situations.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Hemp.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 939 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before starting, double-check your medications if you take estrogens or hormone therapy (moderate interaction risk), or blood pressure drugs, blood thinners, or ACE inhibitors (minor risk). Also flag any medications your liver processes through CYP1A2 or CYP3A4 pathways—hemp may reduce their effectiveness.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

This product is best suited for people exploring hemp oil's potential benefits who don't take medications that interact with it—especially estrogen-based hormones, blood pressure drugs, blood thinners, or medications processed through certain liver pathways. If you take any prescription medication, check it against this product's interactions first.

Estrogens

Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antihypertensive Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Advanced CBD Oil (Hemp Oil) by New Sun: Common Questions

Does Advanced CBD Oil (Hemp Oil) by New Sun interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Advanced CBD Oil (Hemp Oil) has a known interaction with 938 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Advanced CBD Oil (Hemp Oil) contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm on birth control or hormone therapy?
Not without checking first. Hemp oil has a documented moderate interaction with estrogens; animal data shows it can affect blood estrogen levels, so it might interfere with how your hormone medication works. Talk to your pharmacist before starting.
What are the side effects of hemp oil?
Most people tolerate hemp seed oil well. In rare cases, allergic reactions—ranging from hives and swelling to anaphylaxis—have been reported. One case of elevated liver enzymes was reported in a young child given extremely high doses. If you develop hives, swelling, or breathing trouble, stop and seek help right away.
Is it safe to use while pregnant or breastfeeding?
We don't have enough safety data to know either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you're pregnant or nursing—they can help you decide if it's right for you.
Does hemp oil actually work for constipation or skin conditions?
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that it does. We rate its use for constipation, eczema, and high cholesterol as having insufficient reliable evidence, meaning the studies either don't exist or aren't strong enough yet to say it works.
Is this product a filler-free concentrate?
Yes. This is a single-ingredient product—just phytocannabinoid hemp oil, with no inactive ingredients or fillers added.
Can hemp oil make my blood thinner medication less effective?
Theoretically, yes. Hemp may slow platelet clumping in vitro, but a human study found no such effect at 2 grams daily. Still, a minor interaction is documented. Check this product with your pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like aspirin.
