Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Clean BCAA Lemonade contains 5 active ingredients: three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs)—L-leucine, L-isoleucine, and L-valine—plus sodium and coconut water powder. The BCAAs are amino acids your muscles use during and after exercise.
Sodium is an electrolyte that helps with fluid balance and muscle function. Coconut water powder adds electrolytes and flavor.
The product also contains inactive ingredients like sunflower lecithin, citric acid, natural vegan flavor, steviol glycosides (a sweetener), sea salt, tartaric acid, and turmeric.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold does not establish that Clean BCAA Lemonade works for muscle recovery, exercise performance, or any other purpose. Sodium is likely effective for cystic fibrosis and possibly effective for amphotericin B nephrotoxicity (kidney damage from a specific antifungal drug), but those are not typical reasons someone would buy a BCAA supplement.
Coconut's effectiveness for diabetes, cholesterol, obesity, and lichen planus is not established in the data we hold. We have no effectiveness data for the amino acids themselves in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Sodium is well tolerated when eaten in normal dietary amounts, but too much is linked to high blood pressure and heart strain. This product contains sodium, so if you're watching your intake—for example, because of high blood pressure, heart disease, or kidney disease—check the sodium content per serving and talk with your doctor about whether it fits your diet.
Coconut is generally well tolerated and likely safe during pregnancy and lactation, though concentrated coconut supplements aren't well studied. However, coconut can cause allergic reactions ranging from hives to severe anaphylaxis in people with a coconut hypersensitivity; reactions are more common with oral exposure.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take blood pressure medications (antihypertensives), lithium, corticosteroids, didanosine, sodium phosphates, tolvaptan, or other sodium-containing drugs, double-check this product with your doctor or pharmacist before starting—sodium can affect how these medications work and raise your blood sodium to unsafe levels. If you take diabetes medications, be aware of the minor interaction with coconut water powder and its potential effect on blood sugar.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is a BCAA plus electrolyte supplement aimed at exercise recovery, but we have no solid evidence it works for that purpose. If you take blood pressure medications, lithium, corticosteroids, or diabetes drugs, the sodium and coconut content here warrant a conversation with your doctor or pharmacist before you start.
If you have a coconut allergy, skip it. Talk with your own healthcare provider to see if it's right for you and your medications.

Clean BCAA Lemonade by Clean Machine Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Clean BCAA Lemonade by Clean Machine contains sodium, which interacts with several medication types.
The most serious concerns are moderate-severity interactions with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives), lithium, corticosteroids, didanosine, sodium phosphates, tolvaptan, and other sodium-containing drugs. High sodium intake can reduce how well blood pressure medications work and may increase the risk of dangerously high sodium levels (hypernatremia) when combined with certain drugs.
It can also alter lithium levels in your blood, potentially causing toxicity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Coconut water powder in this product has a minor interaction with diabetes medications—theoretically, it might increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you're taking those drugs. We could not check the branched-chain amino acids (L-leucine, L-isoleucine, and L-valine) for interactions; no data is on file for them.
Altogether, these interactions span 291 individual medications. Before you start this product, run your exact medications through the checker below.

For each ingredient in Clean BCAA Lemonade with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Sodium
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, a high intake of dietary sodium might reduce the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.
High intake of dietary sodium can increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Also, high intake of sodium may necessitate increased use of antihypertensive medications to achieve blood pressure control in some patients, such as those with chronic kidney disease.
Corticosteroids
Concomitant use of mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids (corticosteroids) cause sodium retention. This effect is dose-related and depends on mineralocorticoid potency. It is most common with hydrocortisone, cortisone, and fludrocortisone, followed by prednisone and prednisolone.
Didanosine (Videx)
Concomitant use of didanosine with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Didanosine formulations contain a significant amount of sodium.
Lithium
Altering dietary intake of sodium might alter the levels and clinical effects of lithium.
High sodium intake can reduce plasma concentrations of lithium by increasing lithium excretion. Reducing sodium intake can significantly increase plasma concentrations of lithium and cause lithium toxicity in patients being treated with lithium carbonate. Stabilizing sodium intake is shown to reduce the percentage of patients with lithium level fluctuations above 0.8 mEq/L. Patients taking lithium should avoid significant alterations in their dietary intake of sodium.
Sodium Phosphates
Theoretically, concomitant use of sodium phosphate with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Use of high doses (> 45 mL in 24 hours) of sodium phosphate, such as those used for bowel cleansing before surgery, can lead to serious electrolyte disturbances, including hypernatremia. The risk of hypernatremia is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Sodium-Containing Drugs
Concomitant use of sodium-containing drugs with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia and long-term sodium-related complications.
The Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) intake level of 2.3 grams of sodium daily indicates the intake at which it is believed that chronic disease risk increases for the apparently healthy population. Some medications contain high quantities of sodium. When used in conjunction with sodium supplements or high-sodium diets, the CDRR may be exceeded. Additionally, concomitant use may increase the risk for hypernatremia; this risk is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Tolvaptan (Samsca)
Theoretically, concomitant use of tolvaptan with sodium might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Tolvaptan is a vasopressin receptor 2 antagonist that is used to increase sodium levels in patients with hyponatremia. Patients taking tolvaptan should use caution with the use of sodium salts such as sodium chloride.
Coconut Water, Powder
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking coconut with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research suggests that coconut milk might increase insulin levels and/or decrease blood glucose levels.
