GynoEase Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking GynoEase against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of GynoEase by Pacific BioLogic
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
GynoEase contains five active ingredients delivered in plant-based capsules. The product includes a proprietary blend (the exact amounts aren't listed separately) made up of cinnamon, peony, moutan, peach, and poria fungus.
These are traditional herbal ingredients combined in a single formula; the capsule itself is the only inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for GynoEase's active ingredients is limited. For cinnamon, peony, moutan, and poria fungus, there is insufficient reliable evidence in our data to rate their effectiveness for the conditions they're traditionally used for—including amenorrhea, diabetes, diarrhea, aging skin, cirrhosis, migraine, chronic fatigue, dementia, and diabetic kidney disease.
Peach has no effectiveness ratings in our data either. This doesn't mean they don't work; it means rigorous clinical trials are lacking or absent for most of these uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cinnamon is likely safe during pregnancy and lactation in food amounts, but large supplement doses—especially those high in coumarin, a compound that can harm the liver over time—should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Peony and moutan are possibly unsafe in pregnancy and should not be used; there isn't enough reliable information to consider them safe while breastfeeding.
Poria fungus hasn't been studied enough in pregnancy or lactation, so it's best avoided during both. Common side effects reported with peony include abdominal bloating, loss of appetite, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach discomfort; in one trial, diarrhea occurred in 5% of users versus 1% of those on placebo.
Rare allergic reactions to poria fungus, including allergic rhinitis and asthma, have been reported. A rash was reported in one person taking cinnamon, and cinnamon allergy can cause contact dermatitis.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking GynoEase, have your doctor or pharmacist double-check it against these medication types: blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (due to peony and moutan); diabetes medications (due to cinnamon); liver-damaging drugs (due to cinnamon); drugs processed by CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 in your liver (due to peony and moutan); hormonal birth control and hormone replacement therapy (due to peony and moutan); clozapine, an antipsychotic (due to peony and moutan); phenytoin, an anti-seizure drug (due to peony and moutan); sedatives (due to poria fungus); and anticholinergic or cholinergic medications (due to poria fungus). We could not check peach for interactions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
GynoEase is a traditional herbal blend with several documented theoretical interactions, most notably with blood thinners, diabetes medications, psychiatric drugs, hormonal contraceptives, and sedatives. The evidence for its effectiveness is insufficient for most claimed uses.
If you take any prescription medications—especially blood thinners, diabetes drugs, antipsychotics, anti-seizure medications, birth control, or sedatives—talk with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting this product. Peony and moutan should not be used in pregnancy, and poria fungus is best avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding as well.

GynoEase by Pacific BioLogic Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
GynoEase by Pacific BioLogic contains five ingredients, and three of them—cinnamon, peony, and moutan—have documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is that peony and moutan may theoretically increase bleeding risk when combined with blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (anticoagulants or antiplatelet medications).
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Cinnamon may lower blood sugar and have additive effects with diabetes medications, potentially requiring dose adjustments. It may also cause liver damage (hepatotoxicity) if used in large doses over a long time, especially when combined with other drugs that harm the liver.
Peony and moutan share several concerns: they may slow how your body clears certain psychiatric and other medications processed by the liver (CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 substrates), potentially raising their levels; they may interfere with hormonal birth control and hormone replacement therapy through estrogenic activity; and they may increase the anticoagulant effects of clozapine (an antipsychotic) or reduce the effectiveness of phenytoin (an anti-seizure drug).
Poria fungus may enhance the effects of sedatives and may interfere with anticholinergic drugs (medications that block acetylcholine) or add to the effects of cholinergic drugs (medications that increase acetylcholine). We could not check peach, as we hold no interaction data for it.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,274 individual medications. Use the search tool on this page to check your exact medications before starting GynoEase.

For each ingredient in GynoEase with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Peony
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, combining peony with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that peony might have antiplatelet, anticoagulant, and antithrombotic effects.
Clozapine (Clozaril)
Theoretically, peony might increase the levels and clinical effects of clozapine.
In vitro research shows that peony suppresses the metabolism of clozapine via weak-to-moderate inhibitory effects on cytochromes P450 (CYP) 1A2 and CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Contraceptive Drugs
Theoretically, peony might interfere with contraceptive drugs due to competition for estrogen receptors.
In vitro and animal research shows that peony extract has estrogenic activity. Concomitant use might also increase the risk for estrogen-related adverse effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, use of peony may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that peony suppresses the metabolism of clozapine via weak-to-moderate inhibitory effects on CYP1A2 and CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, use of peony may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that peony suppresses the metabolism of clozapine via weak-to-moderate inhibitory effects on CYP1A2 and CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Estrogens
Theoretically, concomitant use of large amounts of peony might interfere with hormone replacement therapy and/or increase the risk for estrogen-related adverse effects.
In vitro and animal research shows that peony extract has estrogenic activity. Theoretically, peony might compete for estrogen receptors and/or cause additive estrogenic effects.
Phenytoin (Dilantin)
Theoretically, peony might reduce the levels and clinical effects of phenytoin.
Animal research shows that taking peony root reduces levels of phenytoin. Some researchers suggest that peony root might affect cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2C9, which metabolizes phenytoin. However, preliminary research in humans shows that peony root does not alter levels of losartan (Cozaar), which is also metabolized by CYP2C9.
Cinnamon
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, cassia cinnamon may have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Cassia cinnamon may lower blood glucose levels, and have additive effects in patients treated with antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, large doses of cassia cinnamon might cause additive effects when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of cassia cinnamon for an extended duration might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animal models. In humans, very high doses of coumarin from 50-7000 mg/day can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.
Poria Fungus
Anticholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, poria mushroom might decrease the clinical effects of anticholinergic drugs.
In animal research, poria mushroom essential oil reduces acetylcholinesterase activity. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
