Max Care Probiotics Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by NatureWise
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Max Care Probiotics against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Max Care Probiotics by NatureWise
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Max Care Probiotics contains 19 active ingredients — a mix of live probiotic bacteria and a prebiotic. The probiotic strains include various Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species, plus Bacillus coagulans (sold as LactoSpore), which are beneficial bacteria meant to support gut health.
Inulin is a prebiotic fiber that feeds the good bacteria. The product also contains several inactive ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, gellan gum, hypromellose, bamboo extract, and silicon dioxide, which help form and stabilize the capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this formula's ingredients is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum show possibly effective evidence for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and L. acidophilus is possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea and bacterial vaginosis.
Bacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and IBS. Inulin is possibly effective for constipation, diabetes, and obesity.
For many other uses — allergic rhinitis, anxiety, asthma, respiratory infections, and cognitive decline — the evidence in our data is insufficient to rate these ingredients. The remaining bacterial strains lack effectiveness ratings in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is warranted if you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, or in intensive care. Live probiotic organisms carry a small risk of infection in critically ill patients or those with central lines.
Rare cases of bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream) have been reported with several of these strains, though this is uncommon in people with intact immune systems. Inulin commonly causes bloating, flatulence, diarrhea, and cramping — especially at doses over 30 grams — though these tend to improve with time.
Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating and gas have also been reported with some of the probiotic strains, though they're not universal. Pregnancy and lactation safety data are limited for most of these ingredients; B. longum is rated possibly safe in pregnancy, and inulin is rated likely safe, but for the others we don't have enough information.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications before taking this product if you use antibiotic drugs or antidiabetes medications. The probiotics may lose effectiveness if taken at the same time as antibiotics, and inulin may theoretically increase the risk of low blood sugar with diabetes drugs.
Separate your antibiotic and this product by several hours for the best results.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic blend that may help with IBS, constipation, or antibiotic-associated diarrhea if you're otherwise healthy. Be aware that antibiotics will reduce its effectiveness — space the doses several hours apart.
If you take diabetes medication or are seriously ill or immunocompromised, talk with your pharmacist before starting.

Max Care Probiotics by NatureWise Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Max Care Probiotics by NatureWise contains several live bacterial strains, and those we could check do interact with one medication type.
The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs — a Moderate-severity interaction shared by six ingredients (Bifidobacterium breve, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, and Bacillus coagulans). Since these probiotics are live organisms, taking them at the same time as antibiotics can kill off a significant portion of them and reduce their effectiveness.
You'll want to separate doses — take your antibiotic and the probiotic several hours apart.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Inulin, a prebiotic fiber also in this product, carries a Minor-severity interaction with antidiabetes drugs (diabetes medications). Inulin may improve blood sugar control, which in theory could increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you're already taking a medication for diabetes.
We could not check several of the bacterial strains in this formula — L. plantarum, L. reuteri, L. salivarius, L. casei, L. paracasei, B. longum infantis, B. animalis lactis, L. rhamnosus, L. brevis, L. fermentum, and proBio65 — so we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 267 individual medications.
