The evidence for most of these mushroom extracts is limited. For the ingredients we have effectiveness data on, reishi showed possibly ineffective ratings for cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), and cordyceps showed possibly ineffective for athletic performance.
Beta-D-glucans stand out: they're rated likely effective for cholesterol problems (dyslipidemia) and heart disease (coronary heart disease). For the others — maitake, chaga, and cordyceps — the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate them for their proposed uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Most of these mushroom extracts are generally well tolerated short-term, though reishi and cordyceps caution that long-term safety isn't well studied. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, and abdominal discomfort.
Reishi may also cause dizziness, dry mouth, itching, rash, and sore throat. Chaga carries a specific caution: excessive consumption has been linked to kidney failure in rare cases because chaga is high in oxalate.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding: the safety data advises against all these mushroom extracts during pregnancy and while breastfeeding due to insufficient information.

Before taking MycoForce, double-check with your pharmacist if you take blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs) — reishi and maitake may lower your pressure further. Blood thinners (anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs including warfarin) are a concern: reishi, maitake, chaga, and cordyceps may all increase bleeding risk.
Diabetes medications are also affected — reishi, maitake, and chaga may intensify their blood-sugar-lowering effect. Immunosuppressants should be discussed too, as chaga, cordyceps, and beta-D-glucans may interfere with them.

Reishi and maitake can also increase the blood-sugar-lowering effect of diabetes medications (antidiabetes drugs), creating a risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Maitake has an additional documented concern: it may strengthen the blood-thinning effect of warfarin.
Chaga and cordyceps extracts interact with blood thinners (anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs) and may increase bleeding risk. Chaga and cordyceps may also interfere with immunosuppressant medications.
Cordyceps carries a Minor-severity interaction with testosterone.
Additionally, reishi may affect blood thinners at higher doses. Beta-D-glucans interact with blood pressure and immunosuppressant medications in ways similar to the other extracts.

Mushroom Blend
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
