Vanadyl Sulfate is generally well tolerated at amounts below 1.8 mg daily, but higher doses may cause stomach upset (nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and gas) and, at high doses over long periods, kidney damage. Allergic reactions to vanadium are rare but have occurred, presenting as itchy rashes and contact dermatitis.

The three androsterone compounds are anabolic-androgenic steroids and are possibly unsafe — they carry concern for serious side effects including heart disease and liver injury. The safety data advises against all of these androsterone derivatives during pregnancy and breastfeeding because they can harm fetal development and affect nursing infants.

Theoretically, vanadium might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that the sodium orthovanadate form of vanadium prolongs clotting time, likely through inhibition of thrombin and factor Xa.
