Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: broad spectrum hemp aerial parts and flower extract at 1500 mg per serving. Broad spectrum means it includes a range of compounds naturally found in hemp plant material.

The inactive ingredients — medium chain triglyceride oil, gelatin, glycerin, water, D-limonene, and mixed tocopherols — are the capsule and carrier; they help deliver the active extract but don't add therapeutic effect.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Hemp product and its label doesn't state a use — see Hemp's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for hemp extract isn't established in our data. The facts we hold list several conditions — constipation, atopic dermatitis (eczema), and familial hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol due to genetic factors) — but for all of them, the rating is insufficient reliable evidence to know whether it works.

That doesn't mean it doesn't; it means the research isn't there yet to say one way or the other.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hemp seed foods are generally well tolerated, but this product is a concentrated extract, which is less studied. The safety data advises caution with concentrated supplements like this one.

Serious adverse effects are rare but include allergic reactions — uncommon cases of anaphylaxis, facial swelling, and breathing trouble have been reported, as well as very rare heart rhythm problems. A case report in a young child given high-dose hemp extract showed elevated liver enzymes and hepatitis, though this involved doses much higher than a typical supplement.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Hemp.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 941 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before you take this, check if you're on estrogen or hormone therapy — hemp may interfere with how it works. Also double-check blood pressure medications (antihypertensives and ACE inhibitors), blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, and any medication your liver breaks down, since hemp may reduce how well those work.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

If you're not on hormone therapy or blood pressure medications, this product may be worth a try, but the evidence for what it does isn't solid yet. Anyone on estrogen therapy, blood pressure drugs, blood thinners, or medications metabolized by the liver should check with us before starting.

Estrogens

Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antihypertensive Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Premium CBD Oil 1500 mg by cbdMD: Common Questions

Does Premium CBD Oil 1500 mg by cbdMD interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Premium CBD Oil 1500 mg has a known interaction with 940 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Premium CBD Oil 1500 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is CBD oil safe if I'm not on any medications?
For people not on medications, the data shows hemp products are generally well tolerated. That said, this is a concentrated extract, not a food amount, so it's less studied than whole hemp seed. Rare allergic reactions — including anaphylaxis — have been reported. If you have a known allergy to hemp seed or any concerns, talk to your pharmacist first.
What's the difference between this and regular hemp seed oil?
This is a concentrated extract in a capsule, whereas hemp seed oil is the pressed oil from seeds. Concentrated extracts are less well studied than food amounts of hemp seed. The safety data we have is stronger for hemp seed foods than for supplements like this one.
Can this help with my eczema or cholesterol?
The evidence isn't established yet. We hold ratings that say insufficient reliable evidence for both atopic dermatitis (eczema) and familial hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol). That means we don't have enough research to say whether it works for these.
Are there any side effects I should watch for?
Hemp products are generally well tolerated, but allergic reactions — including hives, facial swelling, and breathing trouble — can happen, though they're uncommon. In very rare cases, heart rhythm problems and syncope (fainting) have been reported. A single case in a child given very high doses showed liver enzyme changes. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any unusual symptoms.
Is this safe during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
We don't have safety data on file for hemp extract during pregnancy or lactation. Because this is a concentrated supplement and not a food amount, we can't say whether it's safe either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding.
Does this product have any fillers?
Yes. The inactive ingredients are medium chain triglyceride oil, gelatin, glycerin, water, D-limonene, and mixed tocopherols. These help deliver the hemp extract and form the capsule, but they're not the active ingredient.
