by Nature's Way
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Primadophilus Intensive against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Primadophilus Intensive is a 6-ingredient probiotic powder. The active ingredients are four beneficial bacterial strains: Bifidobacterium longum-135, Lactobacillus acidophilus-122, Bifidobacterium breve-129, and Bifidobacterium bifidum-132.
It also contains NutraFlora scFOS (a prebiotic fiber that feeds good bacteria) and Lactobacillus rhamnosus-111. The only inactive ingredient is silica, a flow agent.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotics is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. For most other uses listed—including age-related cognitive decline, hay fever, asthma, and anxiety—the evidence isn't established in the data we hold.
You'll want to talk with your doctor about whether this product suits your specific goals.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people. Rare gastrointestinal side effects have been reported, including abdominal discomfort, flatulence, constipation, and bloating.
Rare serious infections (bacteremia or sepsis) have occurred in critically ill infants and adults; if you're seriously ill or have a weakened immune system, check with your doctor before using this product. One person in a trial reported a dry cough.
Bifidobacterium longum and Bifidobacterium bifidum are rated possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation, though data are limited. Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly safe in pregnancy; lactation data aren't on file.
Safety data for Bifidobacterium breve in pregnancy and lactation aren't on file. Because the safety evidence is limited for all of these strains, check with your doctor or pharmacist before use if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check antibiotic drugs before you take this product—all four probiotic strains interact with them at Moderate severity. Separate your antibiotic dose from this supplement by a few hours to keep the antibiotic from killing the beneficial bacteria.
We hold no interaction data for NutraFlora scFOS and Lactobacillus rhamnosus, so we can't flag interactions for those two ingredients.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic blend may help with irritable bowel syndrome, certain infections, and antibiotic-associated diarrhea if that's what you're aiming for. The main thing to watch: if you're taking antibiotics, time the doses apart so the medication doesn't kill the live bacteria in the powder.
If you're seriously ill or your immune system is weakened, talk with your doctor first. Check your exact medications with the search tool on this page and confirm timing with your doctor or pharmacist.

We couldn't check two ingredients: NutraFlora scFOS and Lactobacillus rhamnosus. We hold no interaction data for them, so we can't say whether they interact with medications.
Alternative names for the antibiotic class include aminoglycosides, beta-lactams, fluoroquinolones, macrolides, sulfonamides, and tetracyclines, among others. If you're taking any antibiotic, spacing out its dose from this product is the key step.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
