Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product has 17 active ingredients: multiple strains of beneficial bacteria (Lactobacillus acidophilus in three forms, Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus fermentum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium lactis, Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, Pediococcus pentosaceus, and Streptococcus thermophilus), plus fructooligosaccharides — a prebiotic that feeds beneficial bacteria. The 25 billion CFUs refers to the total number of live organisms per serving.
The inactive ingredients are vegetarian capsule shell, silica, magnesium stearate, and titanium dioxide.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotics varies by strain and condition. Lactobacillus acidophilus strains are rated Possibly Effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium lactis are also rated Possibly Effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections; Bifidobacterium lactis specifically is Possibly Effective for constipation. For most other uses listed in the data—hay fever, asthma, common cold, and various other conditions—the evidence is Insufficient to rate.
Fructooligosaccharides and Streptococcus thermophilus lack established evidence in our data for the conditions we hold information on. Talk with your doctor about whether this product fits your specific health goal.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotics in this formula are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. The most common side effects are mild digestive complaints: bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea.
These are uncommon when taken as directed. Fructooligosaccharides can cause gas and bloating, especially at higher doses, though studies show doses under 10 grams daily don't increase these effects compared to placebo.
Because these are live organisms, there's a theoretical concern they could cause infection in people with severely weakened immune systems or critical illness; such cases are rare. Two rashes were reported in one trial combining multiple probiotics, though it's unclear which ingredient was responsible.
For pregnancy and lactation: Lactobacillus acidophilus strains and Bifidobacterium species are rated Possibly Safe in pregnancy. Lactation data aren't on file for most ingredients.
Discuss use during pregnancy or breastfeeding with your doctor.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, you need to discuss timing with your pharmacist before taking this probiotic. Antibiotics may kill the live organisms in the supplement, reducing its effectiveness.
Separating doses can help. No interactions are documented for the other ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic aimed at supporting digestive and immune health, with Possibly Effective evidence for IBS, antibiotic-related diarrhea, and some bacterial infections. It's generally well tolerated but can cause mild digestive bloating or gas, especially when starting.
The key caution is taking it with antibiotics — you'll want to separate doses to protect the live organisms. If you have a weakened immune system, take blood thinners, or are pregnant or nursing, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
