Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 2 of its 2 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This liquid contains 2 active ingredients. Broad spectrum hemp extract is derived from the hemp plant and includes a range of its naturally occurring compounds.

The product also contains LunaRich X, a proprietary lunasin extract—we don't have specific details on what role it plays in this formulation. The rest is inactive ingredients (fillers and carriers): purified water, glycerin, MCT oil, natural flavors, lecithin, and a few others that help deliver the actives.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Hemp product and its label doesn't state a use — see Hemp's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that broad spectrum hemp extract is effective for the conditions listed—constipation, atopic dermatitis (eczema), and familial hypercholesterolemia (a genetic cholesterol disorder) all show insufficient reliable evidence to rate. We also have no effectiveness data on file for LunaRich X proprietary lunasin extract.

If you're considering this product for a specific health goal, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist about what the current science actually supports.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hemp seed foods in normal dietary amounts are generally well tolerated. However, concentrated extracts like the one in this product are less studied, so caution is advised.

Most people taking hemp products experience no side effects, though rarely, allergic reactions including hives, facial swelling, and anaphylaxis have been reported. There's also a rare case report of liver inflammation in a young child given very high doses of hemp extract.

Pregnancy and lactation safety data is not on file for this ingredient, so if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it. We have no safety data on file for LunaRich X.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Hemp.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 939 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take hormone therapy (estrogens)—hemp may interfere with its effects. Also confirm any blood pressure medications (antihypertensives or ACE inhibitors), blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs), or medications your liver processes via CYP1A2 or CYP3A4 enzymes, since hemp may reduce how well they work.

If you're unsure whether a drug is processed by these liver pathways, ask your pharmacist.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

This product is marketed for several conditions, but the evidence we hold doesn't support its use for any of them yet. The bigger concern is that if you take blood pressure medications, hormone therapy, blood thinners, or any drug metabolized by your liver, hemp extract could change how those medications work.

Check with your own doctor or pharmacist before adding this to your routine—especially if you're on any regular prescriptions.

Estrogens

Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antihypertensive Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Yes. Based on its ingredients, Protect Hemp + Lunarich X 500 mg Peppermint Blast has a known interaction with 938 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Protect Hemp + Lunarich X 500 mg Peppermint Blast contains 2 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
What does hemp extract actually do in this product?
The product contains broad spectrum hemp extract—which includes various compounds from the hemp plant. However, we don't have reliable evidence that it works for the conditions this product lists (constipation, eczema, or high cholesterol). What we do know is that it can interact with several types of medications, so that's the main thing to watch for.
Can I take this if I'm on birth control or hormone therapy?
Not without checking first. Hemp extract theoretically may interfere with how estrogen-based medications work in your body. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product if you use any form of hormone therapy.
Is hemp extract safe to take long-term?
Hemp seed foods in normal amounts are generally well tolerated. However, concentrated extracts like the one in this product are less studied, so we don't have solid long-term safety data. Serious side effects are rare but have been reported, including allergic reactions and, in one case, liver inflammation at very high doses.
What is LunaRich X, and does it interact with medications?
LunaRich X is a proprietary lunasin extract in this product. We don't hold interaction data for it, so we can't tell you whether it interacts with any of your medications. That's another reason to run your prescriptions through the tool on this page or ask your pharmacist directly.
Can I take this while pregnant or breastfeeding?
There isn't enough data on file to know whether hemp extract is safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you in either situation.
Does this product contain any fillers or other inactive ingredients?
Yes. Inactive ingredients include purified water, glycerin, MCT oil, natural flavors, lecithin, and a few others. These help deliver the active ingredients but aren't the main therapeutic components of the product.
