Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Ra Hemp Capsules contains one active ingredient: hemp. Each capsule is enclosed in a vegetable capsule shell (an inactive ingredient that holds the hemp inside).

Hemp seed is used in foods and supplements for its nutritional content, including protein and fatty acids. This product delivers a concentrated form rather than whole hemp seed food.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Hemp product and its label doesn't state a use — see Hemp's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that hemp is effective for the conditions listed — constipation, eczema (atopic dermatitis), and high cholesterol (familial hypercholesterolemia) all carry a rating of insufficient reliable evidence. That means there isn't enough solid research to say whether it works for these uses.

If you're considering this for any of these conditions, talk with your doctor about whether there's a better-studied option.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hemp seed foods eaten in normal amounts are generally well tolerated. However, this product is a concentrated supplement — concentrated extracts and supplements are less studied, so caution is advised.

In larger doses or as supplements, more safety data would be helpful. Rare serious side effects have been reported, including allergic reactions (hives, facial swelling, shortness of breath) and very rarely anaphylaxis.

There are also rare case reports of heart rhythm problems and liver enzyme changes, though these are uncommon. Food amounts of hemp seed are considered likely safe, but if you have a tree nut or seed allergy history, mention that to your pharmacist.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Hemp.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 939 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking Ra Hemp Capsules, double-check with your pharmacist if you take estrogens or hormone therapy (moderate risk), blood pressure medications or ACE inhibitors (minor risk), blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (minor risk), or any medication your liver breaks down — hemp can speed up how your body clears certain drugs and reduce their effectiveness.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

This is a single-ingredient hemp supplement. It's generally well tolerated in food amounts, but as a concentrated supplement, it's less studied than whole-food hemp products.

The main caution is interactions with hormones, blood pressure meds, blood thinners, and certain other drugs that your liver processes. If you take any prescription medications — especially for hormone therapy or blood pressure — or if you have a seed allergy, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Estrogens

Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antihypertensive Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Ra Hemp Capsules by Ra Hemp: Common Questions

Does Ra Hemp Capsules by Ra Hemp interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Ra Hemp Capsules has a known interaction with 938 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Ra Hemp Capsules contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will this interact with birth control or hormone replacement therapy?
Yes — hemp theoretically interferes with estrogens through its own estrogenic effects. The exact mechanism isn't clear, but this is a documented moderate-severity concern. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before combining this with any hormonal medication.
Can I take this if I'm on a blood pressure medication?
You need to check with your pharmacist first. Hemp may add to the effect of blood pressure meds and certain heart medications (like ACE inhibitors), which could lower your pressure more than intended.
What are the side effects?
Hemp seed is generally well tolerated. Serious side effects are rare but include allergic reactions (hives, facial swelling, shortness of breath) and very rarely heart rhythm problems. If you have a seed allergy history, mention that before taking this.
Is this effective for eczema or high cholesterol?
We don't have solid evidence that hemp works for eczema, constipation, or high cholesterol — all rated as insufficient reliable evidence. If you're considering this for one of those conditions, talk with your doctor about other options with better research behind them.
Is this safe to take while breastfeeding or during pregnancy?
We don't have enough safety data on this concentrated hemp supplement for pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice before taking it.
Can this affect how my other medications work?
Yes — hemp can speed up how your liver breaks down certain medications by inducing two key enzymes. This could make some drugs less effective. Have your pharmacist check all your medications against this product.
