Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Ra Hemp's Classic Tincture contains one active ingredient: hemp. It's delivered as a liquid in organic sugar cane alcohol as the carrier.

That's it — no added active ingredients.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Hemp product and its label doesn't state a use — see Hemp's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for hemp isn't established in the data we hold. We have no reliable data on whether it works for constipation, eczema (atopic dermatitis), or high cholesterol — all rated as having insufficient evidence to rate.

If you're thinking about it for one of those reasons, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist first.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hemp seed in food amounts is generally well tolerated. However, this product is a concentrated extract, and concentrated hemp extracts are less well studied than whole-food hemp — caution is advised.

Serious side effects are rare but have been reported, including allergic reactions (hives, facial swelling, shortness of breath, and in rare cases anaphylaxis) and very rare reports of heart rhythm problems and liver enzyme changes, mostly at much higher doses or in special cases like treating seizures in infants. There's no pregnancy and lactation safety data on file for this ingredient.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Hemp.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 939 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking Ra Hemp's Classic Tincture, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take estrogens (birth control or hormone therapy), blood thinners like warfarin or aspirin, blood pressure medications, or drugs metabolized by your liver through the CYP1A2 or CYP3A4 pathways — a pharmacist can look those up for you.

Estrogens

Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antihypertensive Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Classic Tincture by Ra Hemp: Common Questions

Does Classic Tincture by Ra Hemp interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Classic Tincture has a known interaction with 938 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Classic Tincture contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is hemp the same as cannabis or marijuana?
Hemp and cannabis are both cannabis plants, but this product's interaction data and safety profile are based on hemp — the data here reflects hemp specifically, not smoked cannabis or high-THC products. If you're asking because of legal or potency concerns, check the label or ask the maker directly.
Can I take this if I'm on birth control?
Not without checking first. Hemp may theoretically interfere with how estrogens work, based on animal research. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
What are the common side effects?
At food amounts, hemp is generally well tolerated. In larger amounts or concentrated extracts like this one, serious side effects are rare but include allergic reactions (from hives to anaphylaxis) and very rarely heart rhythm or liver problems — mostly reported at very high doses or in special medical situations.
Is it safe in pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
There isn't enough safety data to know. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Does this product actually work for what it claims?
We don't have reliable evidence yet. The data we hold rates it as insufficient evidence to know whether it helps constipation, eczema, or high cholesterol. Ask your doctor if it might fit your situation.
