Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: raspberry ketone. It's a compound extracted from raspberries that has been studied for possible effects on hair loss (alopecia areata) and weight management, though the evidence for either use remains incomplete.

The capsule itself is made from vegetable cellulose.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Raspberry Ketone product and its label doesn't state a use — see Raspberry Ketone's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that raspberry ketone works for the conditions it's typically marketed for — hair loss and weight loss. The data rates both as having insufficient reliable evidence to make a clear recommendation.

That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means human studies are either too small, too few, or too limited to know for sure.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Raspberry ketone is used safely in food flavoring, but human safety data for the high doses in supplements is very limited. Structurally, it resembles a stimulant, so stimulant-like side effects are possible — case reports describe heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat, elevated blood pressure, and in rare cases, dangerous heart rhythm problems.

Some people also report shakiness, sweating, and diarrhea. During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety information — the data advises against concentrated supplements.

The same applies to breastfeeding. If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this supplement is right for you.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Raspberry Ketone.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 174 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before you take this product, double-check your medications with your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you're on a blood thinner like warfarin (Coumadin) or any stimulant drug — either prescription or over-the-counter. Altogether, these interactions span 174 individual medications.

Raspberry ketone may change how warfarin works in your body and could increase your risk of serious heart problems with stimulants.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Raspberry Keytones may be worth considering if you're interested in its potential effects on hair loss or weight, but understand the evidence for either use is incomplete. The bigger concern is medication interactions — if you take blood thinners like warfarin or any stimulant drugs, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this supplement.

The cardiovascular side effects reported in case studies are serious enough to warrant caution.

Stimulant Drugs

Theoretically, raspberry ketone might increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects with stimulant drugs.
Structurally, raspberry ketone resembles synephrine, a known stimulant agent. Heart palpitations, elevated blood pressure, coronary vasospasm, pulseless electrical activity arrest, and resistant polymorphic ventricular tachycardia have been reported in patients taking raspberry ketone.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Warfarin (Coumadin)

Theoretically, raspberry ketone might increase warfarin dose requirements.
In one case report, a patient taking warfarin 55 mg per week had a decrease in INR over a period of one month while taking raspberry ketone 250 mg daily. A warfarin dose increase to 70 mg per week was necessary to maintain a therapeutic INR while taking raspberry ketone. The mechanism for this potential interaction is not known.

Raspberry Keytones by EarthWell: Common Questions

Does Raspberry Keytones by EarthWell interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Raspberry Keytones has a known interaction with 174 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Raspberry Keytones contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take Raspberry Keytones while I'm on warfarin?
Not without talking to your doctor first. Raspberry ketone may increase the dose of warfarin you need to stay at a safe blood-thinning level. A documented case showed a patient's dose had to rise significantly while taking this supplement. Your doctor can monitor your INR and adjust your warfarin if needed — but they have to know you're considering it.
Does raspberry ketone actually help with weight loss?
The evidence in our data is insufficient to say whether it works. That means we don't have enough human studies to know for sure either way. If weight loss is your goal, talk with your doctor about proven approaches while you sort out whether this supplement fits in.
What are the side effects I should watch for?
Because raspberry ketone acts like a stimulant, you might experience heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat, elevated blood pressure, shakiness, sweating, or diarrhea. Rare but serious cases of dangerous heart rhythm problems have been reported. If you feel chest pain, severe palpitations, or unusual shortness of breath, stop and seek medical attention right away.
Is it safe to take while breastfeeding?
No — there isn't enough safety information. The data advises against using concentrated supplements while breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether there's a safer alternative for what you're trying to address.
Can I take this with my stimulant medication?
You should check with your doctor or pharmacist first. Raspberry ketone structurally resembles a stimulant and could theoretically increase your risk of serious heart effects — like dangerous rhythms or elevated blood pressure — if combined with stimulant drugs. Don't start without clearing it.
What's actually in this capsule besides the active ingredient?
The capsule is made from vegetable cellulose — that's it for inactive ingredients. No unnecessary fillers or additives.
