Research suggests Saccharomyces boulardii may help with several types of diarrhea. It's rated possibly effective for rotaviral diarrhea, travelers' diarrhea, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and Clostridioides difficile infection.
The same rating applies to its use in preventing necrotizing enterocolitis (a serious intestinal condition in premature infants) and supporting treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection. Keep in mind these are "possibly effective" ratings — the evidence exists but isn't yet conclusive.

Saccharomyces boulardii is generally well tolerated in healthy adults, but it should be avoided if you're critically ill or have a weakened immune system — in rare cases, the live yeast has caused serious bloodstream infections (fungemia), especially in hospitalized patients with central catheters or on broad-spectrum antibiotics. A small number of people have reported mild gastrointestinal complaints like stomach cramps, gas, nausea, vomiting, or decreased appetite.
