The evidence for this product's individual strains varies. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. For most of the other conditions studied — such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, anxiety, cognitive decline, and athletic performance — the evidence is insufficient to rate effectiveness, meaning reliable data don't yet exist.
Some strains are rated possibly ineffective for specific uses like age-related cognitive decline and sepsis.
How safe is it?

Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Lactobacillus gasseri, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium breve are generally well tolerated in healthy people, though safety data are limited for some strains.
Gastrointestinal side effects — including bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea — have been reported but are uncommon. There is a rare concern that live probiotic organisms might cause infection in some patients, particularly those who are critically ill, immunocompromised, or have had recent surgery; cases of bacteremia and sepsis linked to these organisms have occurred in those populations.
One trial reported cases of rash and itching, though causality wasn't clear. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before use, especially if you have a weakened immune system.

L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Lactobacillus gasseri UALg-05
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus gasseri with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. gasseri.
Lactobacillus gasseri preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. gasseri preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium longum UABl-14
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
