Esomeprazole, Naproxen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Ashitaba interacts with.

In vitro research shows that ashitaba extract inhibits cytochrome P450 (CYP) 1A2. Theoretically, concomitant use of ashitaba with CYP1A2 substrates might decrease the clearance of these substrates and increase the risk for adverse effects. However, this interaction has yet to be reported in humans. Until more is known, use with caution.

Vimovo is a two-in-one pill that combines naproxen (an anti-inflammatory) with esomeprazole (a stomach acid blocker). The concern here is that ashitaba, in lab tests, appears to slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. If that enzyme runs slower, a drug it helps clear could build up a bit more than usual.

The honest truth is this is only theoretical right now. It comes from test-tube research, not real people, and naproxen relies on other enzymes too. Still, if levels did climb, you might notice more typical naproxen effects like stomach upset, heartburn, or a higher chance of irritation or bleeding. Eating ashitaba as a vegetable is unlikely to matter, but concentrated supplements are worth running by your pharmacist or doctor first.
